Welcome to New South Wales - Capital City: Sydney

Today's Forecast

Sydney is a backpacker’s heaven - with sunny beaches, a great nightlife, and lots of adventures waiting to happen.

The list of things to do in Sydney is endless, but the following is a list of “must see and do’s”!

Climb the Sydney Harbour Bridge - one of Australia’s most famous landmarks. BRIDGECLIMB™ operates Climbs everyday at ten-minute intervals. The last DayClimb™ is dependent upon the time the sun sets, which varies throughout the year. NightClimbs™ operate from the time the sun sets, each night of the week. (visit http://www.bridgeclimb.com.au for more information and to book your climb online)

For something less strenuous, visit the Pylon Lookout up from the pedestrian walkway on the bridge. Inside the Lookout is a fascinating display on how the bridge was built.

Another must is a visit to the famous Sydney Opera House (visit http://www.sydneyoperahouse.nsw.gov.au/ for more information)

Spend a day or two exploring the beautiful Sydney Harbour by ferry. Whilst you can get a cruise around the harbour, the cheapest way is to go via public ferry (visit http://www.sydneybuses.nsw.gov.au/sb.ferries.html for more information). For a more speedy trip around the harbour, try out the new OzJetboating Thrill ride. Departing from the Eastern Pontoon at Circular Quay, you'll see some of Sydney Harbour's most famous sites, including the Opera House and Harbour Bridge. Be warned, it travels up to 80km an hour!

Enjoy lunch or an icy cold beer in the historical “Rocks” - a place of great historical significance which is also a great place to party on - particularly for a traditional Australian “Sunday Session”. (The Rocks Visitor Centre, at 80 George Street, publishes an excellent free booklet (in conjunction with the Sydney Cove Authority) called The Rocks Self-guided Tour.)

Check out the views from Sydney’s tallest building, Centrepoint Tower (305 metres above street level), located at 100 Market Street.
