Brief Outline:

Walpole's newest Backpackers' right in the middle of the Walpole Nornalup National Park. Try one of our tours of the Tingle Forest, Tree Top Walk, Wilderness, Wildflowers and Rugged Coastline.

Walpole was originally settled in the early 1930s as group settlement for farmers, with timber milling developing soon after, the region is most famous for the giant red tingle trees, many over 400 years old. It has developed into one of the richest dairy and beef farming areas in the state and is surrounded by national parks and state forests.

Situated on the south coast, Walpole enjoys an unusually mild climate with warm sunny days during summer and good rainfall in winter making for prolific wildflowers in spring and lush undergrowth in the ancient giant forests.

The safe and tranquil rivers, inlets and adjoining wilderness areas offer the recreation a wide range of activities - fishing, canoeing, white water rafting, bushwalking, power boating, skiing, sailing and sightseeing from the banks of the Frankland River meandering through giant stands of Karri and Tingle trees.

17km from Walpole is the world-renowned Tree Top Walk and The Valley of the Giants. The walk is 600 meters long and at its highest point is 40 metres above the forest floor. The walk gives you a different perspective to the ancient Red Tingle forest and allows access for all.
